Henry County Creates Begins Latest Business Builders Session

Henry County Creates recently began its third round of Business Builders with a kick-off event. Interested entrepreneurs gathered to learn about the series of workshops that ends with Launch Night, a chance to pitch their business ideas and receive money to kick-start the idea.

Previous sessions of Business Builders have helped a variety of entrepreneurs launch business ventures. Henry County Creates has awarded funding to 15 business ideas. Past winners include Mark Herbkersman, Emily Catron, Amy Miers, and Stephanee Johnson.

Herbkersman is a local author with a passion for western adventure series. He is best known for the Henry Family Chronicles, a series which follows a family’s journey through the old West. Herbkersman also has single novels and holiday stories in his collection.

Catron owns Studio 1534, a Henry County-based photography studio. She specializes in weddings and lifestyle photography and has an in-house videographer. Not only is Catron passionate about photographing weddings, but she also hosts wedding conferences to build relationships with other associates in the wedding industry.

Miers started LA Liquid Catering, a mobile bar that services events, weddings, and a variety of gatherings. Not only does LA Liquid Catering offer a vast menu of alcohol-based drink options, but it also includes a “mocktail” menu for events such as proms.

Johnson opened Daisy Road Boutique in Middletown, Indiana, to provide clothing alterations and children’s clothing. Her boutique has morphed into a vintage clothing boutique, while still offering alterations.

Each of these winners were awarded a check to benefit their business idea to assist with operations, marketing, or other services needed.
