Anyone who has spent time talking to New Castle Main Street Executive Director Carrie Barrett about what makes the organization successful has probably heard her say, “It’s all about relationships.”
New Castle Main Street recently formed a partnership with Henry Community Health (HCH) that celebrates HCH employees, highlights the best parts of working at HCH and plants seeds in the minds of job seekers that HCH is the place for them.
With more than 950 employees, Henry Community Health is currently the largest employer in Henry County. HCH desires for their employees to not only feel supported in their work environment, but also feel like they can call New Castle home. In cooperation with HCH, New Castle Main Street has developed a tailored employee enrichment and recruitment program designed to reach all HCH employees, while actively encouraging them to engage in events and opportunities in the downtown district. The partnership will include a social media component with bi-monthly features focusing on a different theme each quarter.
In addition to the employee enrichment and recruitment program, HCH will also be physically investing in the continued beautification of New Castle’s downtown. The vacant lot at the northeast corner of Main and Broad streets, which has been known for some time as Citizen’s Corner, will get a new look, with much of the design and development work sponsored by Henry Community Health over the next five years. The space will also be getting a new name in the coming months.
This collaboration is the first of its kind for New Castle Main Street, but the organization is hoping to extend similar opportunities to other businesses in the community.
