Historic Preservation Commission Approves Sign Certificate of Appropriateness for 233 S. Main Street

The New Castle Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) has officially approved a Sign Certificate of Appropriateness for the building located at 233 S. Main Street, New Castle, Indiana. A total of three approved certificates from the HPC marks a significant milestone in the building’s restoration and its exciting future as the new home of Dr. Madudeline Newell D.C. and Abundant Life Clinic of Chiropractic.

This historic building has been a part of the Building Renovation Assistance Program, reflecting the community’s dedication to preserving our heritage, our unique architecture and our dedication to supporting building owners.

Originally a grocery store before becoming Brammer Furniture in 1962, the building at 233 S. Main Street will soon become the Abundant Life Clinic of Chiropractic, which opened in late July. The relocation of this new business underscores our commitment to revitalizing downtown New Castle and supporting local entrepreneurs.

“We are proud of the progress made at 233 S. Main Street and excited for the positive impact Abundant Life Clinic of Chiropractic will bring to our community,” said Emily Hurst, Project Manager of New Castle Main Street. “This project shows how dedicated the community is to preserve our history and maintain the charm and vitality of our historic downtown.”

Dave Nantz, president of the Historic Preservation Commission said, “The collaborative efforts between building owners, New Castle Main Street and the Historic Preservation Commission has been instrumental in the revitalization of our downtown. We’re proud that the Preservation Commission has a 97.5% approval rate of applications.”

The approval of the Sign Certificate of Appropriateness is a testament to our community’s ongoing efforts to honor and preserve our historical assets while fostering economic growth and development. We look forward to seeing the continued transformation of 233 S. Main Street and its contribution to the vibrant, historic character of New Castle.
